About Hollie Granato, PhD
It is nice to meet you! A little bit about me…
I am a licensed clinical psychologist and DBT board certified therapist in private practice, providing teletherapy services to clients in California, Texas, Hawaii, and all psypact participating states (search here: https://psypact.site-ym.com/page/psypactmap). I collaborate with my DBT team to offer comprehensive DBT services including DBT skills groups and phone coaching in addition to weekly individual therapy to both adults and adolescents. When I’m not providing clinical care, I volunteer my time to supervise doctoral trainees and psychiatry residents. I also serve on various research teams and as a consultant on two large-scale CBT and DBT dissemination projects.
I received my doctorate from the University of Washington in 2016, where my work focused on addictive behaviors, sexual trauma, and emotion dysregulation. I’ve trained extensively with the treatment developers of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy, and am a certified CBT diplomate/trainer by the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy. I completed my APA-Accredited internship at the Puget Sound Veterans Affairs Health Care System - Seattle Division, where I sought research and clinical training with Transgender Veterans.
Racial justice and dismantling systemic oppression are foundational to all aspects of my work and life. I have a strong dedication to working with the LGBTQ community and have previously served as a representative for the Bisexual subcommittee of APA Division 35, section IV. I also have a strong commitment to the training and dissemination of evidence-based practice, and was nominated to serve as the clinical lead for DBT in Los Angeles county and as the assistant training director for the doctoral externship training program at Harbor – UCLA from 2017-2020. I strive to serve the psychological community and was an elected board member of the Southern California Acceptance and Commitment Therapy organization, ACBS.org from 2019-2021. In my spare time, I am a certified yoga instructor, offering donation based yoga classes to mental health providers seeking to decrease burnout and increase their own personal mindfulness skills practice.
